Prince Harry & Meghan's Engagement RIng

7 Years after Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement, recently it was the turn of Prince Harry and Meghan Markel to tell the world about theirs.

But unlike Kate, who was inevitably going to receive Diana's sapphire ring, we had no clue as to what ring Meghan was going to have placed on her forth finger. From the moment she showcased it in front of the cameras at Kensington Palace, the beautiful diamond ring was going to go down in history due to the heart warming meaning behind it.

In royal terms, the ring is relatively subtle. Much like the proposal itself, which saw the Prince take a kneel whilst they where cooking and enjoying a cosy night in.

The band was made in yellow gold as it it Meghan's favorite color and features a large solitaire diamond with two smaller side stones. The prince designed the ring himself! The main stone was sourced from Botswana, the country where the couple had early in their romance camped underneath the stars, it was the first time the pair felt truly by themselves and had the chance to get to know one another.

The two smaller diamonds either side are perhaps even more meaningful. They come from Princess Diana’s jewelry collection, and are Prince Harry’s way of making sure she’s “with us on this crazy journey together”. And Meghan also appreciates the significance of these stones: “Not being able to meet his mum, it’s so important to me to know that she’s a part of this with us”.

The ring is beautiful, inside and out. And proof that the meaning behind jewelry is so much more important that its monetary value.
